TWO women have been taken to hospital following a collision between a car and a HGV at Crooklands earlier today.

The driver of the car - a 43-year-old woman from Lancaster – was trapped in the vehicle after the collision and had to be cut free by firefighters.

She was taken to hospital by a land ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

A female passenger was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary as a precaution - her injuries are not thought to be non-life threatening.

The 45-year-old male driver of the HGV suffered no injuries.

Police have said that a Land Rover also became disconnected from a cattle trailer in the area and collided with a parked car, but was not involved in the collision.

The road has now fully reopened.
