A COUPLE was saved after being cut off by rising tides on the Morecambe Bay sands yesterday (Tuesday).
Liverpool Coastguard called Bay Search and Rescue just after 3pm to reports that two people, who were said to be in their 60s, were cut off by the tide around half-a-mile off Humphrey Head, Flookburgh.
On arrival at the scene the team's Hagglund All Terrain Rescue Vehicle located the couple and returned them safely to the shore.
Mike Davis, Bay Search and Rescue's Training Officer, said "The rescue shows the importance of checking the tide times before venturing onto the coast, luckily the tide was a fairly low one and the couple have been safely recovered to the shore."
This incident was the rescue team's 27th incident of the year.
