THERE was an impressive turnout for Storth village fete on Saturday.
Attractions included junior fell races, a demonstration by Cumbria Taekwondo Little Dragons, a tug o’war with villagers against local firefighters, baby pigs, and an egg throwing competition.
Guest of honour was David Pearson who officially opened the newly-refurbished village play area, the majority of which was funded by the local community.

More than 40 years ago Mr Pearson and his siblings had written to the Duke of Edinburgh asking for a playground for the village.
It lead to the land being leased to the village from Dallam Estates for a peppercorn rent for locals to enjoy.
The letter written to the Duke of Edinburgh was found and enabled organisers of the fete to track down Mr Pearson at his home in St Bees. He travelled over specially for the opening.
It was originally opened on the same June weekend 40 years ago in 1974 by Brigadier Tyron-Wilson.
The small committee who organise the annual fete rely on the event to cover running costs for the Heron Hall and field.
