COWMIRE Hall at Crosthwaite renowned for its famous damson gin, is to open to the public today from 12pm to 4pm in aid of the British Red Cross.
At 2pm the gardener will give a talk about how the damsons get from tree to the bottle.
The house, built by the owner’s ancestors, has a 14th century pele tower.
A raffle with prizes including a week’s stay in the on-site bothy and a day at a Windermere boathouse will be held.
Admission is £3 per adult, children free of charge.
