FOUR friends of Matthew Jordan, whose body was found he went missing in the Lake District, are running a half-marathon in his memory.

Melissa McCarthy, Jessica Doyle, Katie Sharkey and Steph Barker all joined in the efforts to find Matthew when he vanished earlier this year at Bowness.

“We just really want everyone to know how much we appreciate what the community around Windermere did for us as well as remembering Matty,” said Jessica, 20.

Matthew, who was studying criminology at Teeside University, had been on a trip to the Lake District with three friends and went missing after becoming separated from his friends on a night out in the early hours of March 27.

Large-scale searches followed with police, mountain rescue teams, family, friends and members of the community.

His body was found in the lake in April.
