Farmer Network's Fell Gather road-show is heading for the Lake District
2:49pm Friday 4th July 2014 in News
THE Farmer Network's “Fell Gather” road-show is coming to the Lake District later this month.
It involves a display of local breeds of sheep and commentary about hill farming by local farmers.
Commentator Will Rawling, of the Farmer Network, said: “We will be talking to members of the public about hill farming in the Lake District and raising funds for the Prince’s Countryside Fund which supports a number of projects run by the Network helping develop the skills of young people working on hill farms.
"This is a great opportunity for local people and visitors to see our Cumbrian sheep breeds, meet hill farmers and find out more about what makes the Lake District a special place.”
The event will be held at the National Trust's Crow Park, Keswick, on Wednesday July 16.

Neil Johnson, the National Trust's Food and Farming Officer, said: "Our fell farmers and their sheep are an integral part of creating and managing the Lake District landscape, but their important contribution is too often overlooked. Providing opportunities to help people understand and value the contribution that farming makes is essential to ensure a sustainable future for our uplands".
The Fell Gather road-show will be held from 11am until 3pm just opposite the Theatre by the Lake.
There is no charge for entry but donations are requested in aid of the Prince’s Countryside Fund and the event has been made possible by kind permission from the National Trust.
The roadshow is part of a national programme of events in aid of The Prince’s Countryside Fund being held during National Countryside Week from July 14 to 19.
