POLICE are set to increase their presence in Kirkby Lonsdale this weekend after two assaults in the town during the week.

On Saturday (June 28) three men were assaulted outside the Royal Hotel on Main Street.

One of the men required hospital treatment and damage was caused to the hotel window.

A second assault occurred in the town centre in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The victim - a local male - also had a small amount of cash and a blue and cream Dunlop bag stolen from him.

Police say they are looking to speak to a group of around eight men thought to be in the Ingleton area on Saturday night.

It is believed the group were visiting the area from Leeds.
