A WOMAN who died after a collision in Ulverston has been named by police as 19-year-old Jessica Quayle, of Ainslie Street, Dalton.

Jessica's family have paid tribute to a “beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, who will be sadly missed.”

They went on to say, “She was a beautiful, intelligent fun-loving girl. You were so loved. A model student. Sweet dreams darling, we love you and you will always be in our hearts.”

Emergency services were called to Mountbarrow Road, Ulverston, at around 1.30pm to calls a car and two pedestrians were involved in a collision.

The second pedestrian, a 25-year-old woman from Ulverston, was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital in a life threatening condition, and has since been transferred to the Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

The vehicle involved was a Peugeot 206.

A 23-year-old man from Ulverston was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Police have issued an appeal for anyone for anyone who witnessed any part of the incident to come forward.

They have also asked for anyone who may have seen the driver of a silver Peugeot 206 and a black Land Rover Freelander in the vicinity of Croftlands near Birkrigg prior to the collision.

Anyone with information is asked to call Cumbria Police on 101 and ask to speak to PC Kevin Bestford.
