INGLETON has survived ‘a German invasion’ during a weekend of nostalgia and entertainment.
The town was transformed for its annual 1940s Operation Homeguard weekend, which attracted visitors from all over the country.
Hundreds of people turned out in costume, including military garb, while the streets were patrolled by military vehicles, American paratroopers and land girls.

There were military re-enactments, a Service of Remembrance, street parades and entertainment from artists specialising in 1940s music.
The re-enactments are set four weeks after D-Day in a French market village which is occupied by German forces.
And those who turned out to liberate the town were not put off by the Tour de France, departing 16 miles away in Hawes.
Organiser Elaine Ward said: “This is our ninth year and it has become a tradition.
“And there are plenty of people who will come here who have no interest in the Tour de France.”
This year the Anne Frank exhibition also arrived from York.
