POLICE have arrested a man on suspicion of sexual assault in Bowness.
The unnamed local man, aged 21, was detained following an alleged incident at the Glebe area in the early hours of Friday July 11. He has been bailed until August 15.
Detective Inspector Amanda Sadler said: “Enquiries are on-going as we attempt to establish the exact circumstances of the alleged incident.
"We appeal to anyone who has any information to get in touch to help us with our enquiries.
The alleged victim was a female in her late twenties from the local area and she is being supported by trained officers, said police in an earlier statement.
Cumbria Police said anyone with any information should contact officer 2149 at South Cumbria CID by calling the non-emergency number 101.

It is believed that the woman was in the Wheelhouse Club before the assault took place, said the statement.
