At 11.53am on Saturday, firefighters were called to a report of a fire on a railway embankment off Wellheads Lane near Sedgwick, Kendal.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters using water backpack extinguishers were used to put out the fire that covered about 150 square meters.
