A MOTORCYCLIST in his 60s was flown to hospital after coming off his bike on a Lake District mountain pass.

The man, from Burnley, suffered non life-threatening injuries to his arm in the incident on Hardknott Pass, Eskdale, at 4.20pm yesterday.

The Great North's air ambulance called 'the Pride of Cumbria' based at Langwathby near Penrith, attended the scene.

Officials said the aircrew Paramedic team assessed and treated him before flying him to Barrow's Furness General Hospital - just nine minutes away by air.

Hardknott is the highest road in the Lake District and Cumbria - reaching a height of 393m or 1,289ft.
