EASTENDERS star 'Max Branning' was in the Lake District yesterday.

The actor, real name Jake Wood, took a cruise on Ullswater with a friend.

Staff report that like many other tourists, he boarded at Glenridding pier then got off at Howtown for the walk back.

But in an ending befitting a roll of the Eastenders' closing drums, there was no sandwich stop!

Staff report that poor Jake left his rucksack on the boat.

Rachel Bell, marketing and events manager for Ullswater Steamers, said: “He popped into the pier house because he had left his rucksack, and he said he was gutted because he was looking forward to his sausage roll!

"He was a really nice guy though, and he said he wasn’t bothered about the rain because he was dressed for it.”

Jake joined Eastenders in 2006 and has been most known for his womanising ways and for being a lucrative entrepreneur.

He has reportedly been spotted numerous times at the Steamer’s sister attraction, Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, in the past.
