A BODY found at the foot of an 80m North Yorkshire crag has been named by police.

NORTH Yorkshire police named the man as Roy Lancaster, 54, who contacted them before his body was discovered in the early hours of Friday (July 18) at Malham Cove, Yorkshire Dales.

Clapham Cave Rescue Organisation was called out to recover Mr Lancaster’s body from the foot of the cove.

The body of Mr Lancaster’s wife Suzanne Louise Lancaster, 67, was found at their Leeds home in Talbot Avenue, Roundhay.

West Yorkshire Police have begun a murder investigation into the death of Mrs Lancaster, who was a part-time Church of England priest at St Edmund’s Parish Church, Leeds.

Detective Superintendent Simon Atkinson of West Yorkshire Police said: “We have been in contact with the couple’s family and our enquiries are ongoing.

“As we said earlier, we are not looking for anyone in connection with this incident.”
