LADBROKES have named local businessman Robin Scott as a hot favourite to become the next MP serving Hawes.

Last week, William Hague, announced he was standing down from his role as MP for the constituency of Richmond after 25 years in politics.

Now Ladbrokes has given Mr Scott, odds of 5/2 - making him the second favourite to take over.

Mr Scott, 30, is the current deputy chairman (political) of the Richmond Conservative Association.

He intends to resign from that role in the next two weeks to put himself forward for selection.

Robin, who has previously run a racing statistics website, was just three years old when Hague took the North Yorkshire seat.

Amused at the odds, he said: “I think they are fair - I have to prove my form against some experienced operators who have been through the selection process several times."
