A RESCUE team was dispatched after a sighting of an object in the Morecambe Bay – which turned out to be an inflatable shark.
The Liverpool Coastguard received the report from a woman at 4.10pm on Saturday (July 19) and a crew was sent out.
But the operation was a false alarm when they realised it was an inflatable shark that may have been blown off shore from the beach at Heysham Head.
A spokesman for HM Coastguard said: “By the time we got there it was very windy.
“It could be in the Isle of Man by now!”
