ONE of Cumbria’s most successful businessmen has passed on pearls of wisdom to the next generation of entrepreneurs.
Martin Rayner, pictured, a recently-retired director of family-run Lakeland Ltd, welcomed a party of owners and managers from Cumbrian SMEs to its distribution centre and Windermere headquarters as part of an ‘Aspiring Businesses’ programme for Lancaster University.
Mr Rayner said: “I’ve always believed in three pillars of advice that we’ve built into our company – look after the people who look after customers and be guided by the people who work in your company.
“Trust and Innovation are what Lakeland has been founded on and are critical in any business.”
