A PLAN to build a wind farm on at a contentious South Lakeland site could still be on the cards despite developers withdrawing proposals last month.
Banks Renewables says it is reviewing options for the Killington site where they had planned to build three 132-metre high turbines.
The application had been given the go ahead by South Lakeland District Council planners in January despite objections from campaign groups like FELLS (Friends of Eden, Lakeland and Lunesdale Scenery).
But Banks decided to withdraw it last month in advance of a public inquiry that was due to be held in September after the planning application was ‘called in’ for determination by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government.

A planning application to allow an 80-metre test wind mast to stay on the site – to the south of the A684 Sedbergh Road, adjacent to Junction 37 of the M6 – has now been submitted to SLDC.
The company says it wants to leave the test mast in place to gather further wind data as it considers its options around whether a revised wind farm design for the location might be developed.
