DOZENS of Kendal Calling festival-goers have been stripped of illegal substances during a police operation to clamp down on drug use.

Police targeted those entering the Lowther Deer Park site and this morning released a picture of some of the items they have seized.

Now they are urging attendees not to bring drugs to the site.

"Cumbria Police will continue to work with the organisers of Kendal Calling to discourage festival goers from bringing drugs to the event,” said a spokeswoman for Cumbria Constabulary.

“We will continue to target drug-use and festival-goers may be searched on their way in and those caught with illegal substances will be banned from entering and could face police arrest."

The drugs seized - believed to be cannabis bush, tablets and powders - have yet to be tested and given a street value.

They were seized throughout the morning yesterday, as the first wave of music-lovers entered the site.
