A MAN with a potentially serious medical condition prompted a major rescue operation in the early hours of this morning.
The Clapham Cave Rescue Organisation turned out and was assisted by Lake District Mountain Rescue Search Dogs, the Search and Rescue Dog Association, the Fell Rescue Association and an RAF helicopter, after the 22-year-old was reported missing.
He had left Long Preston, North Yorkshire, in the early hours.
After several hours he was located by a relative walking on a track above Settle.
It is believed he had sought shelter in a remote barn.
