A TEENAGER had to be rescued from above Dunmail Raise after suffering a head injury in a fall.

Both Patterdale and Langdale and Ambleside mountain rescue teams turned out to help the 17-year-old, after she was reported injured at Grizedale Tarn at around 10.20am today.

The North West Ambulance Service was also alerted, while the Great North Air Ambulance Service sent a helicopter.

The girl, who was part of a group, evacuated by mountain rescue team members to the top of Dunmail Raise, and flown to Preston Royal Infirmary by air ambulance.

From the Langdale and Ambleside team alone, 15 men were required, who gave up three hours of their time.
