MEMBERS of the public will have an opportunity to speak directly to the leader of South Lakeland District Council at surgeries throughout the area over the next two weeks.

Coun Peter Thornton is inviting people to come and share their views about the authority and he will be joined by the Chief Executive of SLDC, Lawrence Conway.

The first surgery will be held in Ulverston outside the Coronation Hall from 12 noon to 2pm on Friday.

“As a council we have to listen to the views of people in South Lakeland and I am looking forward to hearing about the issues that matter to them,” said Coun Thornton. “There is no better way of communicating with people than face-to-face. If people want to come and see us there is no need to make an appointment.

“Lawrence and I are keen to hear any suggestions or ideas that people may have and we will endeavour to answer people’s questions on the day.”

The surgeries will be held across the district as follows:

Friday Aug 8: Ulverston Coronation Hall, 12-2pm; Monday Aug 11: Windermere Bus Station, 12-2pm; Tuesday Aug 12: Kendal Birdcage, 12-2pm; Thursday Aug 14: Kirkby Lonsdale, Market Square, 12-2pm.
