A CYCLIST who died after colliding with a dry stone wall in Staveley yesterday (August 5) has been named by Cumbria Police.
Police confirmed that John Edgar Hamilton Collinson, 82, from Staveley, died following the collision on Crook Road at around 11.10am.
The crash happened in the area of Hollins Hall Farm between Staveley and Crook.
Mr Collinson was cycling a bronze coloured racing style bicycle.
The pensioner received serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Air ambulance was in attendance and the road was closed for around two hours while the emergency services dealt with the scene.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident or anyone who may have seen a cyclist on this road to contact PC Lee Hill of the Southern Operational Support Unit on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously n 0800 555 111.
