A WALKER who broke her ankle on the shores of Ullswater was rescued by boat yesterday (August 8).

The 54-year-old woman fractured her ankle after slipping on the lake shore path, close to Silver Point, at around 4pm.

Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was called out by the North West Ambulance Service and accessed the injured walker, from Somerset, using their rescue boat.

The casualty was treated and transferred by rescue boat to the Inn on the Lake, Keswick, where was airlifted to Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle by the Great North Air Ambulance.

Ten team members were involved in the multi-organisation rescue which took three hours.
