AN AIR ambulance team rescued a man who was thrown from a horse-drawn carriage.
The man, aged 79, suffered head and chest injuries after being thrown from the carriage during the Lowther Horse Trials at 5pm yesterday (Friday, August 8).
The Great North Air Ambulance crew arrived to find the man in a stable but serious condition before flying him to Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, within 10 minutes.
A 23 year old female also sustained minor injuries during the incident but was discharged at the scene.
