A 16-YEAR-old girl was stretchered off a Lake District fell after suffering an ankle injury on the Coast to Coast walk.

Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team was called at around 3.30pm yesterday (Thursday) to assist the Penrith team with the rescue.

The girl was found at Bowderthwaite Bridge, near Haweswater, and was treated at the scene before being stretchered to Mardale Head.

She was then transferred to a county ambulance and taken to hospital for further treatment.
