A WINDERMERE man was rescued from his car by firefighters after a one vehicle collision on the A590 at Newby Bridge today.

Firefighters were called at 11.30am and found the red Mazda in a ditch, and the 39-year-old trapped inside.

Firefighters and ambulance crew released the casualty who was taken to Furness General Hospital by ambulance with non life threatening injuries.
