The meeting takes place in the Main Hall at the Coronation Hall, Ulverston, starting at 10.30am.

At 10am, there will be a half-hour session during which the public can address the Cabinet about Ulverston issues, and members of the public are encouraged to attend.

Normal Cabinet rules for the public participation section at the start of the meeting will apply, said SLDC.

Items for discussion include the controversial review of Ulverston Town Hall and the Coronation Hall.

Ulverston Town Council has been told by SLDC it needs to move from the town hall to the Coronation Hall with the town hall possibly inline for conversion into affordable housing.

But the idea has sparked fury among some Ulverston Town councillors who have accused SLDC of ‘forcing’ them out of the town hall they have used for 120 years.

One, Coun Phil Lister for Labour, said SLDC was holding a 'gun' to the town council's head.

But SLDC points out that The Coro costs a £1,000-a-day public subsidy To run and a switch from the town hall to the Coro would help the Coro's future.

Coun Peter Thornton, leader of SLDC and cabinet chairman, said in a statement: “These are exciting times for Ulverston with the prospect of significant economic growth, new jobs and new housing for the area.

“These are all key to our priorities to create 1,000 new jobs and 1,000 new affordable homes in South Lakeland.

“We are looking forward to our visit and look forward to meeting Ulverston residents and listening to the contributions of representatives of the local community at the meeting.’’
