STAFF and volunteers from wildlife charities will be getting muddy in Morecambe Bay on Monday in a bid to show the public how many creatures call it home.
The RSPB, Cumbria Wildlife Trust and Lancashire Wildlife Trust will be joining together for ‘Mud dipping at Morecambe’.
Carol Bamber, Education Officer at RSPB Leighton Moss nature reserve, said: “Morecambe Bay is a fantastic hotspot for wildlife.
"From birds to bugs, the shoreline is jam-packed with exciting creatures.
"The event will also give everyone the chance to learn about some brilliant birds which use their long beaks to find juicy treats deep inside the mud.”
MORE TOP STORIES:
Mud dipping will be run in two sessions, with the first at 11 am-12 pm and the next from 12.30 pm-1.30 pm.

Emily Baxter, Marine Conservation Officer at the North West Wildlife Trusts, said: “This is a fantastic time of year to get outside and enjoy the warmer weather, whilst also learning about the world around you.
“Despite our extensive coastline in the North West, many people forget how close we are to the sea. We are in an amazing place to find all sorts of marine creatures – big and small.”
