Kendal Wool Gathering is back – and organisers promise the second gathering wil be bigger and better, than last year.

Organisers have booked K Village, The Lakes Outlet, from October 11 to 12, to coincide with the end of Wool Week.

The weekend of events to celebrate Kendal’s associations with wool was hailed a huge success last year.

More than 4,000 people attended the main event in K Village, for the mixture of demonstrations, activities and displays. Many of the major participants have booked again, including: Wools of Cumbria Carpets, in Sedbergh; The Wool Clip, organisers of Cockermouth’s WoolFest; The Threshing Barn in Sedbergh; Jill Harrison’s Wool Images from Aberdeen; Kate Little’s Lakeland Valley Goats; and Shepherdess featuring designer outfits and books by Gathering organiser Alison O’Neill.

New attractions include Knitwits from Windermere, Hannalin Crafts from Cartmel and Art-Felt Designs from Bolton.

Historian Roger Bingham will give talks and heritage trail walks will be run. The Mayor’s Parlour in Kendal Town Hall will open on the Saturday featuring displays of wool-based memorabilia.

Westmorland Agricultural Society will provide extra livestock and displays at K Village.
