A TELEVISION and radio presenter tweeted about her love of the Lake District – while rambling through the heart of South Lakeland.

Sports commentator and Radio Four outdoor broadcaster Clare Balding was walking the final leg of the Dales Way to Bowness when she posted from her Twitter account to her 540,000 followers.

She wrote: “Final section of #DalesWay from Staveley to Bowness-on-Windemere ended in glorious sunshine. Wonderful #R4Ramblings.”

The retired amateur jockey started her walk along the 84-mile Dales Way – which runs from Ilkley, West Yorkshire, to Bowness – on Sunday August 10 and finished it last Wednesday (August 13).

A household name, Ms Balding was recording her thoughts on the trail for her popular BBC Radio Four series Ramblings.
