THE organisations which came together to bring a new jetty to Windermere’s western shore celebrated the arrival of the landmark with the unveiling of a special plaque.
Windermere Lake Cruises’ ‘Bike Boat’ is running between Brockhole, the Lake District Visitor Centre and the new jetty at Bark Barn, near Belle Grange, throughout the summer.
The Bark Barn jetty project is part of a partnership between the GoLakes Travel programme, the National Trust, South Lakeland District Council and Windermere Lake Cruises.
Coun Keith Little, Cumbria’s cabinet member for transport, unveiled the commemorative plaque.
He said: “The GoLakes Travel programme has seen significant improvements in how residents and tourists alike can travel.
“I’m thrilled with the Bark Barn jetty, adding another attraction to this world class beauty spot.”
