A CUMBRIAN man has died from severe head injuries after falling from Eastbourne Pier.
Police have now revealed that the 44-year-old man was Stephen Penriceis from Sandylonning, Netherton, in Maryport.
He was working on the pier when he fell.
He was pronounced dead at the scene just before 4pm yesterday (Tuesday, August 19).
The Health and Safety Executive have been informed.
The 144-year-old Eastbourne Pier is undergoing extensive reconstruction work after a third of it was destroyed by fire on July 30.
His next of kin have been informed.
