A singer, dancer and actor has achieved her dream by treading the boards in a West End show.

Amy Forrest, 30, who attended Kirkbie Kendal School and the Brewery Youth Theatre, is entertaining audiences in The Music Hall Menagerie, at the Leicester Square Theatre, in London.

Amy’s mum Jannett described her daughter’s first West End role as a dream come true.

“She’s just over the moon,” said Mrs Forrest. “The show was brilliant and so funny. We are very proud of our daughter.”

MORE TOP STORIES: Mrs Forrest said her favourite part of the intimate show - a blend of period music hall, burlesque and variety entertainment - was Amy’s spot singing Don’t Tell Mama, where she sang and danced the whole routine in a nun’s habit.

Amy’s CV includes parts in Coronation Street and Emmerdale; performances at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe; and playing Sybil Fawlty, in Fawlty Towers - the Dinner Show.

This autumn will see her playing Queen Elizabeth l in Edmund & Co - the Dinner Show, a celebration of sitcom Blackadder 2 - again in the West End.

Performing is in the family - Jannett is an extra and recently appeared on BBC drama Jamaica Inn while Amy’s dad Michael is an actor.

Jannett said of her daughter: “I’ve never known anyone work as hard. She works her socks off and we are so proud.”

The Music Hall Menagerie ends its run on September 13, and Amy will then prepare for panto in Jack and the Beanstalk at Haverhill, Suffolk.
