POLICE have named the 15-year-old cyclist who died following a collision with a van at Santon Bridge yesterday.

He is Jake Anthony Knott of East Bergholt, Essex, who was holidaying in the Wasdale area with his father.

Jake suffered head, neck and spinal injuries as a result of the collision at around 11am and was airlifted to Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle, where he was pronounced dead.

The 45-year-old driver of the van, who was not injured, is from the Houghton-le-Spring area of Tyne-and-Wear.

Cumbria Police said he was not suspected of committing any offence.
