FIFTY sheep have been stolen from a Lake District field.

The half-breed animals were taken from land off the A5074 Winster road near Bowness-on-Windermere between 7.30 am on Thursday and 9pm on Friday.

The sheep have ear tags and purple markings on their right sides.

Police say anyone who saw any vehicles or trailers in the area should contact Pc 1794 Hunter on non-emergency number 101.
