THE family of a teenage cyclist who died following a collision with a van in Wasdale have paid a moving tribute to a 'wonderful and loving son'.

Jake Anthony Knott, aged 15, was pronounced dead at Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle, after the crash at Santon Bridge on Saturday.

He had been on holiday with his father from their home in East Berghold, Essex.

His family released the following tribute: “Jake was a keen footballer, cyclist and sportsman, a good friend to so many and an absolutely wonderful and loving son.

“Jake had a gentle but competitive nature, an infectious laugh, cheeky smile and a sharp and witty sense of humour.

“Jake's shocking and tragic passing leaves a chasm in the lives of those that knew him. The hearts of his family who adored him will be forever broken.

“Jake, may your soul soar in the beautiful lakes and mountains where you spent your last hours. You were so happy to be there.

“Rest in peace our darling Jake."
