FOURTEEN members of Coniston Mountain Rescue Team went to the assistance of two walkers who got into difficulties while walking in the Coniston Fells on Saturday afternoon.

The pair, a man and a woman had strayed on to Little How Crags and become cragfast while descending Levers Hawse. They were roped to more even ground and accompanied off the fell by team members.

On Saturday evening, the team was called out to assist a young man who had scalded himself while camping in the Greenburn valley above Little Langdale.

He was treated by team members and stretchered down to a Land Rover ambulance, from where he was transferred to a North West  Ambulance Service vehicle and taken to Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
