HER Royal Highness The Duchess of Gloucester GCVO is to officially open the Cavendish Wing at St Mary’s Hospice next month.

The new extension will be opened on Wednesday September 10 at St Mary’s Hospice in Ulverston.

At the visit, a plaque will be unveiled by the Duchess, to commemorate the opening of the Cavendish Wing, which has been built with grant funding from the Department of Health and other grant making trusts.

The new two-storey extension provides a day hospice facility on the ground floor and an education suite above.

The Duchess, called Birgitte Eva, will be greeted by staff and invited guests although access to the event is by invitation only.

However, members of the public will be able to view the new Cavendish Wing on Thursday 11th and Friday 12th September, when the building will be open to the public.
