IT was a bumper turnout for Ravenstonedale Show as the event recorded its highest visitor numbers in years.

Secretary Rachel Marston said the good weather on Saturday helped with the impressive attendance at High Lane Field, Newbiggin-on-Lune.

Sheep entries were down due several local farmers attending a wedding. It meant several regular exhibitors were unable to show.

The overall award for Champion on the field was presented to JC & E Pedley & Sons from Woodhouse Farm, Little Musgrove, for one of their Texel sheep.

The two shear ewe was shown by Hannah and Martin Pedley, who said, “We try to get here every year – it’s a good little show and it was great to win this time.”

The Weasdale Horseshow fell race, organised by Howgill Harriers, was won by Gary Priestly of Salford Harriers with Garry Greenhow of Ambleside AC in second place.

The first lady back was Heidi Dent of Howgill Harriers, who finished 14th overall from a field of 73.
