STRONG opposition to proposed car parking charges in Bentham has led to a stay of execution.
Charges at a currently free car park at Grasmere Drive were expected to be approved by Craven District Council.
But impassioned pleas from traders, parish and ward councillors resulted in the proposals being sent back to the council's select committee for further scrutiny.
