CLAIRE Moriarty, director general of the rail executive at the Department for Transport, has had a first-hand look at the growing transport options available from Windermere station.
She took a ride along the Lakes Line to Windermere to open a new bus shelter funded by the GoLakes Travel programme to help passengers transferring from trains to buses.
And following the ceremony, Ms Moriarty used the ‘bike bus’ to travel to Brockhole to see the start of Sky Ride Local – a free guided bike ride using cycle routes, jetties and the bike boat service – before returning to the station in one of the new Electric Twizy cars to catch a train back to London.
