A PENSIONER has been charged in connection with a murder in Cumbria, police say.

John Michael Parry, 81, was due to appear before North Cumbria Magistrates’ Court today (September 3).

Cumbria Police were called yesterday (September 2) at 6.16am to The Dale, Ainstable, near Penrith, where they found an 80-year-old woman dead in a house.

Mr Parry, of The Dale, Ainstable, was also at the property and in need of medical attention.

He was taken to Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle.
