MOUNTAIN Rescue volunteers from Duddon and Furness were approached by a local land owner to retrieve some bridge coping stones which had been thrown by vandals into the deepest part of the river beneath.
Several swiftwater rescue technicians attended and the team used rigging kit and a forestry winch to successfully retrieve three large stones.
A team spokesperson said: “The owner gives permission for us and other teams in the region to use the location for training, so it was nice to be able to help out, at the same time as practicing water skills."
