THE hen harrier, pushed to the brink of extinction as a breeding bird in England, is in the top ten in a poll to find Britain's national bird.
The nationwide poll was launched by broadcaster and writer David Lindo The Urban Birder.
The red kite is also currently in 10th place, after reintroduction schemes, including one at Grizedale Forest, helped it return from near-extinction.
