THREE people are needed to join the Windermere Lake User Forum and have an important say in how the lake is managed and run.

The forum is the group of lake users who advise and guide the Lake District National Park and South Lakeland District Council on matters relating to England's longest lake.

The forum is made up of representatives from sailors, power boaters, canoe and kayaks, swimmers, anglers, commercial users, outdoor activity providers, transport providers and general users.

The group has been consulted on such topics as the development of The Glebe, Ferry Nab, charging policy on the lake and flood and drought management.

Representation is voluntary and is for a four-year term.

The three vacancies on the forum from this autumn are to represent canoes, general users and sailing.

The forum meets formally twice a year and the next meeting is on Thursday September 25 at 6pm at the Windermere Motor Boat Racing Club. All are welcome.

The agenda can be found on the National Park website and includes a presentation on safety from the RNLI, the proposed development at Aquatics in Bowness Bay, drought consultation and charging for 2015 for lake services.
