SCOTLAND’S no vote to independence has been welcomed by Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron.
Mr Farron said a yes vote would have had a negative impact on Cumbria.
“I’m delighted that Scotland has said a firm no to separation,” said Mr Farron.
“I was glad to play a small role in campaigning to save the Union. I think independence would have been bad for Scotland and bad for Cumbria. It would have affected everything from the NHS to business to buses and most things in between.
MORE TOP STORIES: “Westminster’s foundations have been shaken by the debate and the ramifications have been felt here in Cumbria too. The next challenge is to make sure we devolve powers from Westminster down to communities like Windermere and throughout the South Lakes.”
Last week Tim was campaigning in the Borders with Michael Moore MP, Jim Hume MSP and dozens of Better Together activists.
