THE Co-operative food store in High Bentham is being transformed with a £330,000 investment.
The Main Street store is being 're-defined', with a completely new look that will turn it into a hub for the local community as well as a place to shop.
The new-look store will be opened by pupils from High Bentham County Primary School at 8pm on Thursday, 2 October.
A key development is the appointment of store team member Phil Brayshaw as a 'community pioneer” with a remit to foster a 'strong involvement' in community activity, from volunteering opportunities to helping develop solutions to meet local needs.
Store manager Angela Clarke said: “The Co-operative is a community retailer, and we are committed to playing an active role in local life, embracing the area’s community spirit. The store will be a hub for the local community, and customers will be able to find out what is going on locally, and learn more about how The Co-operative’s Community Fund can benefit local groups.”
