Helen Kaye, who is organising the event on behalf of the Rotary Club, said: “Prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer in men and it affects one in eight, mainly after they reach the age of 50.

"Like many diseases, if it is caught early, the prognosis is good and tests and treatments are improving all the time.”

Anyone is welcome to attend the day and will have the opportunity to meet and talk in a relaxed atmosphere to a wide variety of medical experts as well as those who support people with prostate problems, said organisers.

Christine Winder, a urology clinical nurse specialist at the trust said: “It’s better to be diagnosed early as this can improve eventual outcomes.

“Information is power so we are encouraging as many people as possible to attend our event.

“We will be there to answer all questions and to put minds at rest.”

There will also be a range of short presentations from experts and from people who have already been treated. Urology consultants, nursing staff and specialists who deal with cancer, including Macmillan.
