AN INJURED swimmer who could not get out of an Ulverston swimming pool had to be rescued by firefighters this morning.
Firefighters were called to Ulverston Leisure Centre, on Priory Road, at around 10.20am to reports a woman in her 50s, who had a shoulder injury, was unable to climb out of the pool.
"The crew rescued the lady using specialist equipment and a spinal board," said a spokesperson.
The North West Ambulance Service was called to the scene at 9.50am and later took the casualty to Furness General Hospital.
